Top 5 Character Bans in Ranked Games

In the last few months of playing LoL’s or League of Legends in both unranked draft mode and in ranked games there have been common character bans. These champion bans are also well-known in competitive tournament play because of their overpowered characteristics. Observations were all made in solo queue so bans named may not be identical for competitive 5v5 competition when there’s actually coordination and teamwork involved. Below is the top five character bans that people choose when playing in solo queue in the 1700's ELO.

In solo queue, the most common ban is Shaco along with Shen, Morgana, Kassadin and Rammus. All of these champions can turn the game around during combat or change the other team's type of playing when chosen. Generally people ban characters as they do not want to go against them in lane or jungle.

Shaco is the most irritating character to play against in solo queue. His high mobility, early gank skill, stealth, escape ability, as well as ambush boxes are the key reasons Shaco is continually getting banned in high and low ELO. Shaco could have efficient ganks and scale successfully from early kills. These are the reasons why he was considered one of the most annoying character to play against. therefore, its unanimous decision of either team to chuck out the opportunity of playing against Shaco by choosing him first picks insta-ban.

Other LoL champions consistent ban reasons:

Rammus - Taunt period from Puncturng Taunt, high damage from Defensive Ball, efficient early level ganks because of the high mobility from Powerball, ability in tanking, and late-game scaling round out are the popular reasons why Rammus is a pain playing against

Morgana - Magic shield skill,  she is very tanky, two kinds of crowd control skills, sustainability from her passive, and high efficiency in team combats utilizing her ultimate.

Kassadin - Mobility after level six because of Riftwalk, silence from Null Sphere, Force Pulse slow, command against other skill power champions in middle-lane, and high burst abilities.

Cassiopeia – She is hard to lane against for the reason of her Noxius Blast range, high damage yield from the Twin Fang, crowd control from Petrifying Gaze, as well as slowing effect from Miasma. She stacks and scales efficiently into late game. She is a great danger in solo combats and even in team fights. A properly-placed Petrifying Gaze could turn a whole group fight around.
